i dress up the dogs

I do. I dress up the dogs. All of them. I'm THAT dog lady, and in spite of it, they all still love me (Chad included).

When I adopted Suvi, I said, to everyone that would listen, "I will NEVER dress up my dog. Ever." And then one week, when Suvi was about 3 months, I took her to watch me play kickball. It's good socialization, people and dogs everywhere. I wanted her to stay occupied though, so I stopped to get her a bully stick from Petco.

And there, hanging near the register, was the teeniest, cutest, yellow shirt that perfectly matched my kickball uniform. It was on clearance, for $.97. NINETY SEVEN CENTS. Soooooooo.....I bought it. Just this one.

Yeah, right. The next day, I went back and bought everything in the clearance section that would fit her. Surely, she was cold, and would need sweaters! It was September, after all.

And then I met Chad. And he NEVER dressed up his dogs. He swore to me they wouldn't allow it. Psh, I didn't believe it. Surely, Pablo must get cold, too. And Ramsey puts up with anything...she'd love to look cute.

So it continues....enjoy these pics, taken at the expense of our dogs. And rest assured, none of them (Chad included) actually approves of my dressing them up - but they do humor me, and I feed them treats to make up for it (Chad included)....
Suvi's first shirt.
Yes, this is the same shirt....two years later. We only tried it on briefly, for fun - it's a bit small on her now :)

Christmas sweater, 2009

Right before a Pinups for Pit Bulls photo shoot.

Kickball. It was raining - have to keep her dry!

Um....she wanted to be a little sassy for St. Patrick's Day? Yikes....

Pablo needed a new halloween shirt.

Baby Suvi.

Getting ready for our Christmas card photo shoot!

Pablo was Piglet for Halloween. Are you catching on to our theme??

Yep, they all hate me...

Don't let Suvi fool you....she took hers off at least 50 times before we got her to sit and leave it. Rams only tried twice....

I can't believe I'm posting this. Yes, we were Winnie the Pooh and friends for Halloween 2011.

Please tell me I'm not alone.....

  2. Elka does occasionally get cold (like, actually shivering cold) so we have a red hoodie that's hers. That's about as far as we've gone with "officially" dressing her up. On holiday occasions (birthday, Christmas, Easter) I've gotten her to stay still long enough with some kind of headgear on in order to get a picture for the blog.

  3. LOL I am guilty as well, but my chihuahua looks so darn cute, I just can't stop. Reminds me of this TruTV commercial:

  4. Haha! I don't dress my dog up. I am starting to have a collar fetish, though! I think your dogs looked really cute in their holiday scarves.

  7. We tried dressing up our beagle, had a cute little shirt for her, but when our doberman saw it on her, he said "We will have none of that!" and grabbed onto the shirt and shook out beagle until the shirt tore off! We decided it wouldn't be a good idea to try again! lol!
